Derrick, his siblings and their parents were my neighbours growing up in Mbaraki, Mombasa, Kenya. His younger brother was my classmate at Sacred Heart High School, Ganjoni. We lost touch when we all emigrated to the UK at different times. I frequented the Goan Socials and even managed the Goan bands that played for the Saligao Association at Wandworth Town Hall on many occasions.
